Currently there are no laws regulating the practice of anger management in any state. Anger management is not currently under the auspices of Psychiatry, Psychology of Clinical Social Work. Therefore there are no specific academic or educational prerequisites for providers. Anger is a normal human emotion. It is not listed as a nervous or mental disorder in the diagnostic and statistical manual of nervous and mental disorders (DSM1V). For these reasons, it is imperative that all serious providers adhere to the minimum 40 certification training with mandatory 16 hour per year continuing education in anger management, stress management, emotional intelligence and stress management. By doing so, we are distinguishing ourselves from fraudulent prone providers whose main goal is to victimize consumers.
