New Anger Management Classes for Facilitators
In order to be competent as a psychotherapist or counselor, it is a requirement that each clinician has an exposure to counseling or psychotherapist as a patient or client. This requirement is designed to assist each provider in resolving personal issues in his or her own life relative interpersonal and intrapsychic conflicts.

During recent trainings in Santa Monica, San Jose and Oakland, California, when participants were asked for feedback and/or recommendations regarding the Anderson & Anderson Anger Management Certification, the following suggestions were made:

1. All future and present providers should complete the Conover Assessment and a minimum of 8 hours of anger management intervention in an approved anger management program. This recommendation has been accepted and is already being implemented. Gino Inesi, an Anderson & Anderson provider for San Francisco is the first provider to include a new facilitator in one of his groups. These classes are now offered on the 1st. 3rd. and 4th Saturdays of each month. The cost to participants will be discounted and will serve as 8 of the required 16 hours of the yearly continuing education requirement for 2006 or 2007.

2. A second recommendation was made for new Executive Coaches to pair with another provider for a ten hour experience as a recipient and provider of Coaching. The EQ Map and the Conover Assessment as well as the accompanying intervention material will be used in this experience training. New coaches who wish to have Anderson & Anderson faculty provide this experience can do so by contacting our Brentwood office.

Anger and Stress in Casinos
Casino employees are often vulnerable to a range of physical and emotional problems. Employees who work in casinos are expected to always treat customers with respect, smiles and dignity. Shelly Field, who counts "100 Best Careers in Casinos and Casino Hotels" among the 20 books she has written, said the 24-hour go-go atmosphere found in casinos piles stress on workers. "In the casino business you always have to be `on,' and that adds to stress. Having to smile and be customer-service oriented on a constant basis becomes stressful in some instances," said Field. The primary goal is to keep customers in the casino happy in spite of their attitude or behavior. Customers may often be intoxicated or angry over gambling losses. Employees are expected to tolerate rude and often insulting behavior. This can lead to stress, depression, hypertension, heart disease and anger. Since anger is a secondary emotion it is almost always preceded by frustration, stress or some other intense emotion

All Providers are Expected to Support the Anderson & Anderson Brand
Anderson & Anderson is recognized as a brand name in anger management. This has not occurred accidentally but rather a response to consistent aggressive marketing and branding. Whenever I am interviewed, I make it a point to insert something about Certified Anger Management Providers as well as the American Association of Anger Management Providers in my response.

In order to see how successful my efforts have been, go to goggle and type in "Anderson & Anderson, anger management" and you will see pages and pages of content regarding Anderson & Anderson and its provider list. If you type in "anger management providers", you will see that it is our list which is the standard worldwide.

The American Association of Anger Management Providers is an organization less than one year old. I have managed to add my name recognition and positive brand to make this organization credible to the tune of 50,000 hits per month. This is remarkable for any new organization. You can and should continue this branding in all of your marketing efforts. It is to the benefit of all Anderson & Anderson providers and the model as well to let the world know of our accomplishments.

All Certified Providers on the Anderson & Anderson list of providers are expected to brand and market the Anderson & Anderson Curriculum on business cards, websites, web logs, brochures, letterhead and publications. This is good for everyone and a reasonable expectation given the amount of time and money which Anderson & Anderson spends on branding and marketing this model.

For anyone unwilling to participate in our joint efforts, we will accommodate you by removing your entry from our provider list.

Cayman Islands Prison Service effectively using the Anderson & Anderson Model.

Recidivism is a perennial problem for the Cayman Islands Prison Service.

The great majority of all prisoners released in 2004 were back behind bars within 6 months to a year.

Studies have shown that improving prisoners’ skills through education, re-education, and training by offering a structured programme that addresses and attempts to correct behavioral issues such as anger management can help reduce the level of recidivism.

HM Prisons saw the need for a structured Anger Management programme to be an integral part of their rehabilitation exercise. In pursuit of such a program we invited Anderson & Anderson to increase the skills of our staff in those areas.

The programme is now five months old and is delivered by Educator/Counsellor Natalie Joseph Caesar. Ms. Caesar reports that the Anderson & Anderson programme is very comprehensive and user-friendly. It is easily implemented and is proving quite effective in the situation presently existing at HMP Northward.
